POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides custodial, personal, and some skilled care under nurse delegation to clients contracting with Assisting Hands. Care is delivered in compliance with a Plan of Care designated by a Registered Nurse (RN), primarily in the client's residence.

Required Education:
  • High School Diploma Or Ged

Preferred Education:
  • Post-Secondary Education In Healthcare-Related Fields

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients (light housekeeping, laundry, etc.).
  • Assist clients with personal hygiene and daily living activities (bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility).
  • Provide nutritional support and assist with feeding as needed.
  • Monitor and report changes in client condition to the RN.
  • Assist with mobility aids (wheelchair, walker, hoyer lift).
  • Support with prescribed exercises and special diets.
  • Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
  • Document and keep records of all personal care activities.
  • Assist with the self-administration of medication, including preparing and handing over medications.
  • Follow infection control protocols and handwashing practices per CDC guidelines.
  • Comply with all agency policies, procedures, and training standards.
Additional Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Nursing Assistant Certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing (in good standing).
  • Evidence of formal training and certification per state law.
  • Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs and perform duties including bending, kneeling, standing, and assisting with transfers.
  • Strong observation and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow care plans and work independently.
  • At least 1 year of experience in home care or long-term care (preferred).
